Christmas and its consumption in Chile
In the 20th century, merchants noticed that Christmas was a time when sales increased. For some historians, The consumption of Christmas in Chile occurs in several stages.
The first comes after the economic crisis of the 1930s. where there was a debate in the country, since some considered that celebrating it was a very American practice and that they should have national values.
Another stage ocurred when, at the end of the 80s, there was a great economic recovery, which marked the behavior of consumption that is maintained until today. Around this same date, households began to purchase the Christmas tree.
