Christmas carols

Christmas carols are part of Christmas in Chile. Throughout the years, different musical groups have released their own Christmas songs. One of the most famous is probably the Huastos de Algarrobal, who have been releasings Christmas hits since 1966 and the Christamas carol Doña Maria, le ruego.

Doña Maria, le ruego: It is a song composed by the famous Chilean singers-songwriter Violeta Parra. The lyrics of this Christmas carol, famous for the interpretation of the singer Victor Jara, talks about a shepherd who begs the virgin Mary to see the baby Jesus.

Buenas noches mariquita: It is a Christmas carol from the aforementioned group. It was born among a group of friends in the early 60's, with the aim of participating in a festival on the Algarrobo beach central coast of Chile.
